Make developers more productive.
By making developers happier.
By making their tools faster!

Vite consists of two parts:
1. A dev server
2. A build command that bundles your code with Rollup
While you develop, your code is served in your browser directly without being bundled and thatβs how it is super fast. Itβs like opening your local files from you computer in your browser.
Think of Vite's dev server as vue-cli. But way faster.
Server starts in <300ms
Hot Module Replacement updates in <100ms
Β Leverages browser's native ES modules
Utilises ESBuild for
supporting bare imports
hot module replacement (HMR)
tools like typescript
written in Go and compiles to native code
uses parallelism heavily
large JavaScript codebase
As application grows π dev server becomes slower π
Bundling takes place using rollup
Why rollup?
rollup is the best-performing JS-based bundler in terms of:
building for production takes longer than devΒ
way faster than traditional webpack/vue-cli π
